Thor Ragnarok will be arriving in theatres in India on November 3. The seventeenth movie expanding the Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor Ragnarok is a new take on Ragnarök, the end of everything foretold in the Norse mythology and its Marvel comic counterpart. Thor is joined by his long lost friend from work, Hulk as they team-up once again to form “the revengers” against the goddess of death, Hela and prevent her from unleashing hell on Asgard.

Thor

1/10Thor
Thor
The God of thunder, Thor, last seen in Age of Ultron, left after the battle in Sokovia to gain more knowledge about the forces behind the emergence of Infinity Stones. We later see him in the mid-credit scene of Doctor Strange where he is on Earth to find his father, Odin, which also means that Loki’s deception was discovered. This is Chris Hemsworth’s fifth year portraying the crown prince of Asgard, where things take a detour upon Hela’s arrival. Thor gets stuck on the planet Sakaar where he reunites with Hulk and creates his own team who fight with him to stop Hela on Asgard. As the film’s title suggests Ragnarok could also be referred here as Thor’s cyborg clone who was created by Tony Stark, Hank Pym and Reed Richards in the wake of his disappearance, as depicted in the comic-book. That, however, isn’t going to happen in the movie from what we can gather from the trailers.

Hela

2/10Hela
Hela
This might come as a surprise to many that in the film, Hela is Thor’s sister who accidentally got released from Odin’s imprisonment after the latter’s death. Hela is regarded as the goddess of death and assaults Asgard right after she frees herself only to rule them. Hela also wears a headdress which enhances her powers and can create weapons from her body. Also, she might even be more powerful than the God of thunder as we saw in the trailers when she obliterates Mjolnir.

Loki

3/10Loki
Loki
We always knew at the end of Thor: The Dark World that this wasn’t the last we have seen of the trickster, Loki. At the end of that film, Loki managed to send away Odin and assume his identity and has been ruling Asgard ever since. Although, what we can make out from the trailers, his deception is discovered and he somehow he ends up on Sakaar with Thor and Co. A second team-up?

Hulk

4/10Hulk
Hulk
If you didn’t get goosebumps on seeing the Hulk break out of the door into the arena in his Gladiator armour, then this movie isn’t for you. Hulk is the guy you root for and yes, we know he has been missing for long which is why the hype is more than real. Seen at the last of Age of Ultron when he left in an S.H.I.E.L.D Quinjet, sacrificing and suppressing his recent communication development with the Black Widow, we get to see the Doc Green in Thor Ragnarok in a “perma-Hulk mode” wherein the Bruce Banner side of his personality has been in stasis for some time. On Sakaar, he’s the Gladiator who’s got some swag and the people love him, just like us. He’s cool that way.

Grandmaster

5/10Grandmaster
Grandmaster
The all-knowing, immortal Grandmaster played by Jeff Goldblum in an Elder of the Universe who will be the ruler of Sakaar, the planet on which Thor crashes. The Grandmaster is a being who possesses a cosmic life force which grants him all sorts of abilities and enables his super mind which is capable of processing information and guessing a probability within milliseconds. Due to his intellect, he is a master of strategies and enjoys manipulating people just for the fun of it. He is also brother to The Collector who we have seen in previous MCU films.

Valkyrie

6/10Valkyrie
Valkyrie
When we meet Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson in Thor Ragnarok, we see her working for the Grandmaster. As fierce and badass as warriors come, Valkyrie was a great warrior who along with Valkyrior, the league of warrior goddesses, went up against Hela back in the day. During the course of the film, we will see her team up with Thor and Hulk to save the day again.

Heimdall

7/10Heimdall
Heimdall
After Loki’s deceit is discovered, Heimdall, the all-seeing sentry of Bitfrost has chosen exile for himself. He is wandering around in Asgard and according to the trailers will be involved in some gripping action sequences. Basically kicking ass like always.

Skurge

8/10Skurge
Skurge
The guard of Bitfrost bridge in Heimdall’s absence who eventually joins Hela. Skurge, played by Karl Urban is a warrior of Asgard who becomes the right-hand man of Hela when she lays wrath on Asgard.

Odin

9/10Odin
Odin
The real King of Asgard, the All-Father Odin will make an appearance in Thor Ragnarok. According to the mid-credit scene of Doctor Strange, Odin somehow ends up on Earth after Loki took his place on Asgard and started ruling the kingdom.

Surtur

10/10Surtur
Surtur
The fire demon Surtur, is a being that resides in the land of demons, Muspelheism. The opening scene of the first trailer where Thor is tied up in chain confirms that he is in Surtur’s land at some point in the film before Hela lays siege on Asgard.
