Gear S2 and Gear VR Launched In India for Rs 24,300 and Rs 8,200
Samsung
As expected, Samsung's Gear S2 and Gear VR have finally landed on the Indian shores. The company today unveiled these two devices at a small press briefing in Delhi and announced their Indian prices.

Both Samsung Gear S2 and Samsung Gear VR would be sold exclusively on Flipkart and the sales begin today. While you can take home the Sports variant of the Gear S2 for Rs 24,300, the Classic variant of the Gear S2 will set you back Rs 25,800. The price difference is not as steep as we have seen in the case of other smartwatches, but we think that a lower price tag would have helped in favour of this Tizen-based smartwatch.

The dial of the Gear S2 measures 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display and is 11.4mm thick. Mind you, the Gear S2 has the same pixel density (i.e. 302ppi ) that you get on the 42mm Apple Watch. The smartwatch is powered by Exynos 3250 (1.2GHz) processor, a 512MB RAM and has 4GB storage space to store your stuff. What else? It is waterproof, and has features such as Wi-Fi enabled, wireless charging, gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate monitor, barometer, and ambient light sensor.

Coming to the Samsung Gear VR specifications. This mobile virtual reality handset is designed to work seamlessly with Samsung Galaxy flagship devices, and the list includes Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, S6 and S6 Edge. The headset, designed in collaboration with Occulus cost Rs 8,200, can be used for enjoying next-level mobile entertainment experience with a selection of 2D and 3D videos, immersive gaming across genres, 360 degree video and experiential content. However, the limitation that they can be paired only with Samsung flagship devices could be a turn off for some.
