South Korean Electronics giant, LG is rumoured to be working on its next flagship device and report suggest, the next smartphone will be ‘waterproof’. This maybe another hint, that LG may drop the modular design of the G5, for which LG had to sacrifice waterproofing, putting it behind its competitors in this key spec. The new phone will be called the LG G6. LG also has a V series smartphone, which comes with enhanced protection against shock and splash.

An official at LG Electronics was quoted as saying, "The climate of Japan is humid and rainy, and the hot spring culture has developed and demand for waterproof phones has been high."

LG G5 was launched in April 2016, the phone features a 5.3 inches IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, with 1440 x 2560 resolution. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The phone runs on Android OS, v6.0.1 Marshmallow, skinned with LG Optimus UX 5.0 UI. It uses a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, along with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB RAM.

To click images and record videos, the phone has a Dual camera setup at the back, which includes a 16 Megapixel sensor along with an 8 Megapixel sensor, besides LED flash. Towards the front is an 8 Megapixel camera for all your selfie and video chat needs.

It also has removable Li-ion 2800 mAh battery with fast charging, that delivers eighty three percent charge in thirty minutes.

With modular design functionality, the phone measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm in dimensions and weighs 159g. It uses a fingerprint sensor at the back and is available in colour options of Silver, Titan, Gold and Pink.

Considering the LG G5 flopped in the smartphone market, LG will be looking to outfit the G6 with top of the line technology, to give it a chance to compete in the market.
