Android Nougat sees a strong growth in the latest Android distribution data
Google
The latest Android platform distribution data has been released by Google for the month of May which shows us that Android Nougat saw a good rise, even better than Marshmallow when it launched last year. According to the statistics, Android Nougat now runs on more than 7.1 percent of Android devices where Nougat 7.0 has a 6.6 percent share leaving Nougat 7.1 with 0.5 percent share.

Last year during the same time, Marshmallow only had a share of 5.6 percent of the total devices running Android. Nougat, on the other hand, is showing a steady growth with a 2.2 percent rise in adoption ratio from last month.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs on 31.2 percent Android devices while Android 5.0 Lollipop has a total Android distribution share of 32 percent which is the same as last months statistics. However, down the table, the story's different when it comes to older versions of Android.

Android 4.4 KitKat saw a rise of 1.2 percent from last month's distribution ratio of 18.8 percent while Android Jelly Bean declined by 1 percent in comparison to last month's ratio of 10.1 percent.

But for some strange reason, Android 2.3.3-2.3.7 Gingerbread went up by 0.1 percent which might just be a rounding-off error.

All the older versions of Android are showing signs of declining usage and are phasing out slowly with Android Nougat rising faster than ever.
