Mobile World Congress 2017 is right around the corner, and smartphone makers are all set to showcase their newest offerings. Chinese smartphone maker Vernee has announced that it’ll be unveiling the successor to its Apollo smartphone- Apollo 2 this year at MWC.

Moreover, the brand has also gone ahead and revealed the specifications for the smartphone before the unveiling, and from the looks of it, the device is packing a serious punch. Vernee claims that this is going to be the world’s first smartphone running MediaTek’s Helio X30 deca-core processor.

The brand further states that the device will be available in two different storage and RAM configurations- 6GB RAM/64GB storage, and 8GB RAM/128GB of storage. This is the world’s second smartphone running 8GB of RAM, with the first one being Asus’s ZenFone AR, which was first unveiled at CES 2017, and is scheduled to hit the markets in Q2 of 2017.

There is no information shared by the brand for the display size and resolution. However, leaks hint that the device will sport a 5.5-inch Quad-HD panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. The fingerprint scanner sits at the chin of the device, below the display.

Helio X30 too was recently unveiled by Chinese SoC maker MediaTek. The successor to the Helio X20 has been built on TSMC’s new 10nm FinFet architecture which promises to deliver better performance while being power efficient.

The processor sports four cores of Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.8GHz, four cores of Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.2GHz, and two of Cortex-A35 clocked at 2GHz. For graphics, the chipset is rocking a PowerVR 7XT GPU. The chipset also supports optics up to 40-megapixels.
