Flipkart clamps down on refunds
News
In a move to appease its vendors, Flipkart has reversed its return policy on several items sold through the website. Flipkart no longer offers refunds for products that fall into several popular categories like mobile accessories, personal care, computer accessories, cameras, office equipment, games and several more such as smartphones and furniture.

Speaking to Economic Times , several experts called the move "Penny wise and pound foolish, this may temporarily reduce the burn rate, but will alienate customers in the long term,"

Economic Times also reached out to a Flipkart spokesperson who confirmed the new policy but also said that "Our customers can request for refunds through the self-service option on over 1,150 product categories of the 1,800 available, which constitutes about two-thirds of all the categories on Flipkart. In fact, Flipkart processes about 25,000 refunds on a daily basis, 60% of which are instant, where customers don't have to wait to get their money back,"

Flipkart has now clearly labelled categories that won't be seeing refunds on its website. These include: "Lingerie (bottom-wear), Inner-wear, Socks, Clothing Freebies, Home Care, Music, Movies, Baby Care Supply, Beauty and Grooming, Gift Cards, Food and Nutrition, Computer Software, CD/DVD, Cars, Two Wheelers, Lubricant, Oil, Cleaning solutions, Grease, Glue, Wax, Perfumes, Deodorants, Inks, Gels, Polish, Liquids, Personal Hygiene, Pet Hygiene/Grooming and Other Consumables"

Flipkart had reversed its 'no questions asked return policy' in June last year by reducing the return window of goods to 10 days from the previous 30.
