Honor 8 to get Android Nougat update

Honor, the Huawei subsidiary has revealed that its current generation flagship- the Honor 8 will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update in February 2017. The update will come along with the brands custom skin EMUI, with the version number EMUI 5.0.

The smartphone will not only sport the Android Nougat add-ons like split screen multitasking and quick replies, but also major overhaul in the EMUI itself, with numerous changes in the design as well as utility. One of the most rumoured feature to be added will be the addition of multiple profile support, similar to one seen on MIUI 8 from Xiaomi, where users can have multiple profiles for separate work environments.

The update also includes addition of machine learning into EMUI for a smarter and snappier user experience. There is no specific date for the unveiling of the Nougat update as of now.

Honor 8 features a 5-inch full-HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The device gets an all-aluminium shell with a glass back for premium aesthetics.

Under the hood, the device is rocking Huawei’s home-grown Hi-Silicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.3GHz and the rest four clocked at 1.8GHz. The processor comes paired with 4GB of RAM and Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Users get 32GB of internal memory which can be further expanded using a microSD card.

Talking about the optics on the device, Honor 8 features a dual-lens setup like its cousin, the Huawei P9. The rear camera gets twin 12-megapixel sensors. For your selfies, the device gets an 8-megapixel sensor.

This is a dual-SIM device with support for 4G LTE and VoLTE. Powering the device is a decent 3000mAh battery with support for quick charging capabilities.

Honor 8 is priced at Rs 29,999 and is available through Amazon India and Flipkart.
