Lenovo P2 launching in India today: Here’s everything we know
This time around it will be the
Big battery and fast charging
The phone is already available in China and it was first announced at IFA back in October 2016. The big USP of the phone is its massive 5,100mAh battery which Lenovo claims can as long as 3 days on a single charge. It also has a big battery saver mode which comes in tow with a dedicated hardware key on the side that activates the ultra battery saver mode. Lenovo also claims despite the big battery this phone charges very rabidly and will have one of the fastest chargers around.
The P2 will have good hardware but it will not be a flagship killer phone in the same way as the OnePlus 3 or Lenovo’s own Z2. In China, it is being sold with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 eight core processor which is built on a 14nm process. It is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. In India expectation suggests, that there will be no 64GB storage SKU, but instead there will be a 32GB model which will be offered with 3GB or 4GB RAM.
Lenovo is using a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. It has a full HD resolution. Now, this is an expensive type of display technology which is traditionally used by Samsung in its phones. Usually this converts to deeper blacks and more vibrant colours. It also helps power efficiency as AMOLED screens are more efficient than LCD screens. On the front, it also has a front mounted fingerprint scanner.
Lenovo is using a 13-megapixel camera on the back which uses the Sony IMX 258 sensor coupled with an f/2.0 aperture and PDAF and on the front there’s a 5-megapixel camera. Lenovo also has its own camera app which is a derivative of the app that the company unveiled with Vibe Shot smartphone. This is a very robust and easy to use camera app in terms of features.
The other stuff
It has Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, FM Radio, and support for 4G LTE with VoLTE. It is also a dual SIM phone which comes with a hybrid SIM card slot that also doubles as a microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB cards. It also comes with earphones in the package and has a fast charger bundled.

Price and availability
The P2 like most Lenovo phones will likely be sold exclusively online on Flipkart. While the specs would suggest that this will be a phone which could compete with the likes of the incoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, it will be priced higher.
The top of the line 64GB model is sold in China for RMB 2,499 which is about Rs 25,000. In India, the price could be lower as the launch of a 32GB model is more likely, so is pricing could be between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000. It will be offered in two colours - Graphite Grey and Champagne Gold.
