Lenovo could launch its P2 smartphone in India as it has started promoting the device from its official Twitter handle. The device which is touted for its impressive battery life could go up against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the Nubia N1. This phone could also go up against the likes of the Huawei Honor 6X which is also scheduled to be launched in India later in the month.

On Twitter Lenovo is running a campaign stating, " How often do you lose your way because of low phone battery? Travel fearlessly with the longest lasting battery #LenovoP2 #Powerhouse coming soon."

It goes without saying that the key feature of the device is a 5,100mAh battery which is bigger than most phones. In a sense, it is the true successor to the P1 line of phones which also boasted massive batteries.

This phone, however, offers more. It has a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, it is powered by the ever so efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz with eight cores and it could be offered in variants with 3GB and 4GB RAM. While the storage is restricted to 32GB, the phone does come with a hybrid dual SIM slot which has a microSD card slot supporting 128GB of storage.

On the back, this phone has a 13-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX 258 sensor. The front of the phone is home to a 5-megapixel camera, a suite of sensors and a home button which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Other bells and whistles of the device include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC and support for 4G VoLTE. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The P1 was previously launched for Rs 15,999 in India, but considering the competition this phone could be more affordable. Logic would dictate that this phone could be launched exclusively on Flipkart sometime next week.

It is already available in China and previously it was globally unveiled at IFA back in IFA in Berlin.
