LG G6 gets power-up in the form of a new Plus variant LG G6 has announced a new variant of their 2017 flagship smartphone in Korea today. Following Samsung’s suit where the company launched a 6GB variant of their Galaxy S8, LG has now introduced G6 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage along with some new features which will also make their way to the current variant through software updates. 1/2 What’s new with the LG G6 Plus? LG G6+ features an upgraded RAM of 6GB and an internal storage of 128GB. The G6+ will support Quad DAC globally unlike the current variant of the G6. In fact, LG is also bundling earphones from B&O PLAY that will make use of the Quad DAC to its fullest. Additionally, new enhancements in the form of Face Print, Low Power Consumption and Covered Lens warning are also being introduced to LG’s G6 lineup.
Face Print is LG’s version of face unlock option which uses facial recognition technology to unlock the smartphone. On lifting the phone up to you face, the phone will get unlocked without the need to press any buttons. Interestingly, the LG G6 will identify when a user puts the phone in front of his face and will then activate the camera.
Low Power Consumption is a part of Qualcomm’s DSP architecture that’s integrated into the processor which collect data from sensors and wireless connections to enhance the user’s experience and applications on less battery power and reducing latency.
Covered Lens warning pops-up a notification whenever the user’s finger is blocking the camera lens.
Along with this, LG has also introduced two new colour variants of the LG G6 which include Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold which feature a lenticular film on the rear panel which refracts light allowing them to create an optical effect.

By expanding the G6 lineup with differentiating features and colours, consumers will have even more options to consider when shopping for a new smartphone,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. 2/2 LG G6+ Specs The smartphone features a 5.7-inch, QHD+ (2880x1440 pixels), Gorilla Glass 3 protected IPS display which supports Dolby Vision and complies with HDR10 standard. The LG G6 rocks a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with Adreno 530 GPU. LG G6 now has three variants which include, 4GB of RAM and internal memory variants of 32GB/64GB/128GB along with the new LG G6+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
The G6 sports dual 13-megapixel camera and a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. It is powered by 3,300 mAh battery which supports quick charge and wireless charging.
