The next big smartphone to look forward to(apart from the iPhone) is the new Pixel 2 from Google. We have seen some leaks and speculations pointing out that we might see three variants, may be even one from LG.
However, a newreport
now says that all of that might be wrong. According to a Japanese blog references to
'S2' and'M2' were found inside the system files the HTC U11, the company's new flagship. The S1 and M1 were code-names of last year's Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. They had a slightly similar design finishto
the HTC 10 and A9 which was honestly not very impressive. If HTC is taking the same route as last year, there is a possibility that we could see the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL based on its latest flagship, the U11.
That doesn't sound good. The HTC U11 didn't catch a lot of attention in the design department. Firstly it didn't offer a slim bezel approach like the LG G6 or the Galaxy S8. Secondly, that mirror finish on the back is more of a problem rather than making it look premium. The only solace that it offered was'Edge Sense' the unique gesture feature where one could trigger actions by squeezing the metal frame around the phone. Apart from that, the S2 and M2 listings are said to be tied to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which is expected to power the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Before we jump to conclusions, lets not forget that these are only speculations. There is a high possibility that Google's decision to move to LG came at a later stage and HTC might have started working on the new smartphone before losing out on the deal.
