How does the Xiaomi Mi 6 fare against the Samsung Galaxy S8

Xiaomi just unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the much-awaited Mi 6 at an event in Beijing. The Mi 6 packs in quite a power seeing the prices it is going to be available at. But then again, the company is known to focus on countries like China, Singapore and India which are huge markets for balanced (read: premium but affordable) smartphones. Interestingly, Samsung Galaxy S8 was also launched in India at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Galaxy S8 is the South Korean giant’s flagship product which is being hailed as currently the best smartphone money can buy.

Let’s take a look when we pit the Xiaomi Mi 6 against the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Design and Display

Design and Display
The Mi 6 merges glass and stainless steel frame to give itself a glossy exterior finish while encasing everything under a Four-sided 3D curved glass. The fingerprint sensor on the front and the camera units are all under the display which gives a unibody feel to it.

Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a full-HD (1920x1080 pixels), 5.1-inch IPS display.

Samsung Galaxy S8, on the other hand, has much to cater in this department as their smartphone combines the display with the whole chassis to produce what the company calls an Infinity Display. It essentially curves the display around the edges and rounds off the corners resulting in minimal bezels and singular construction.

Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD (2960x1440 pixels) display while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch QHD panel.

Much like Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, Xiaomi Mi 6 sports dual camera sensors on the back. The 12-megapixel sensors reside in a wide-angle and a telephoto lens which supports optical image stabilisation. The twin camera setup produces more detailed pictures as seen on the iPhone. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing camera as well for those selfies.

Samsung Galaxy S8, on the other hand, features a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation while the front of the smartphone houses a wide-angle, 8-megapixel autofocus camera.
