Google launches Actions on Google developer platform in India
Google today announced the launch of Actions on Google, the company's developer platform for Google Assistant in India. With this, developers can build apps to engage with their users through the developer platform that was announced during I/O 2017.

Developers aspiring to build apps for the Assistant will be able to access the Actions on Google developer website and use the developer tools, documentation and the simulator, making it easier for them to build, test and launch apps.

Google has added that Eligible developers will be invited to join the Google Assistant Developer Community Program. Once their app starts working with the Assistant, users will be able to use voice commands and simply say "Ok Google, talk to...." and the Assistant will connect them with the app.

Commenting on the launch, Brad Abrams, Group Product Manager, Google Assistant said,"whether you're searching for a great restaurant for biryani, mapping your travels or helping the kids with their homework, your Google Assistant is always ready to help. But to be truly successful, your Google Assistant should be able to connect you to the apps and services in your life. So, starting today, developers and companies can build apps to engage with Indian users through Actions on Google, the developer platform for the Google Assistant."

"Together with developers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, we look forward to exploring and delivering these new possibilities for the Indian Google Assistant," Brad added.

Users will be able to use this service on the Google Assistant app on both Android and iOS devices without having to install any additional app. While users wait for local Indian apps to roll out, they will be able to try the many apps that are already available.
