Missed out on everything Apple announced last night? Read this Apple just announced a bunch of new devices on 12th September at the new Steve Jobs Auditorium in Apple's 'space ship' campus in Cupertino. These include the usual iPhone upgrades as well as a super special 'future of the smartphone' phone, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Apple reinventing the phone.
If you missed the event, only to realize that everyone from people at your office to friends on Facebook is talking about these new magical gadgets, and doesn't want like an idiot - we got you covered. So, here is everything that was announced at the Apple event yesterday. 1/5 iPhone X
Let's start with the hottest of the bunch - the iPhone X (note that it is called iPhone 10).
The bezel-less marvel, the special 10th-anniversary edition iPhone has been branded as the 'future of smartphone', committed to pioneer the next ten years of smartphones, as the original iPhone did for the last ten years.
The device sports an edge to edge Super Retina OLED display and a whole new stainless steel and glass design. Gone is the Touch ID, as it is replaced by fancy yet practical and more secure Face ID, which unlocks your phone the moment you look at it. This is accomplished by the IR-enabled front camera along with the neural chip packed with the Apple’s latest A11 Bionic processor.
The front facing camera of the iPhone X which has a TrueDepth Camera System, adds Portrait Mode to your selfies. On the rear, there is new dual camera setup with optical image stabilization for both of the cameras with new colour sensors. Interestingly Apple gave up the home button on the new iPhone in favour of new swype gestures from bottom of the screen for closing apps and switching between them. And boy! they are expensive,
as the 64 GB variant is priced at 89,000 INR and the 256 GB at 1,00,2000 INR. The iPhone X will be available for pre-orders from October 27th and will ship from November 3rd. 2/5 iPhone 8
It won't be a crime if
someone calls the iPhone 8 boring as it looks very much like the last generation iPhone 7, which actually looked pretty much like the previous two generations iPhone 6 and 6S. But this time, it got the glass back over aluminum.
Apple brought the TrueTone, display from the iPads to the iPhones, and the new iPhones are powered by the A11 Bionic chips - that's right, "bionic." The iPhone 8 has a new Retina HD display, and improved 12 megapixel cameras.
The iPhone 8 Plus gets an upgraded camera, better Portraits feature and a really cool Portrait Lighting mode. Both phones now have 240 fps video recording at 1080p resolution and has motion tracking, and these cameras are calibrated for augmented reality, which is going to be a big deal. T
he 64 GB base model will cost 64,000 INR and the 256 GB will cost 77,000 INR. Preorders start on 15th September and shipping on 29th September. 3/5 Apple Watch Edition 3
Coming to Apple Watch, Apple's message is simple and clear: you can
make phone calls on the Watch from the middle of water bodies, such as lakes, oceans, pools, etc. Because the new Apple Watch has LTE cellular built in, along with the W2 wireless chips. So, now you can listen to songs from Apple music streamed from Apple Watch Edition 3, with Apple AirPods.
The latest version is more power efficient and better water resistant and is powered by the Watch OS 4. The cellular variant is restricted to 9 countries, the non-cellular version will become available in 26 countries. In India, the Apple Watch Series 3 will start from Rs 29,900 and will be available from September 29th
Apple finally introduced wireless charging to the new iPhones. And just to prevent the Android fanboys saying, "Android already had it for years", Apple created Air Power, new wireless charging standard.
Essentially, it is a normal wireless charging pad made by Apple. But Apple didn't stop there, they made it better by allowing you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Air Pods at the same time. Now Apple can peacefully tell, the technology was there but we waited to make it better.
5/5 Apple TV 4K
Apple TV, not that most of you or me care about it. In short, Apple TV now supports 4K and 4K HDR content, has a new powerful A10X processor (I thought X was 10 Apple) and 3GB of RAM. And, that's it.
Oh! and "one more thing" -
there won't be pink iPhone anymore, I meant the "rose gold".
