Apple bombarded the world with three iPhones tonight. Apart from the usual updates to the iPhone lineup in the form of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, Apple also launched the iPhone X to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Steve Jobs unveiling the first iPhone back in 2007.
True, all the three iPhones are marvellous devices by themselves. The iPhone X is of course the one to look out for, but the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus aren't too bad either. But what is even more intriguing is the India pricing of the devices.
Soon after the presentation was over, Apple sent us a press statement stating the price and availability of all the devices that it launched tonight. To be honest, we aren't much surprised.
So here goes:
The iPhone 8 64GB variant will be priced at Rs 64,000.
The iPhone 8 256GB variant will be priced at Rs 77,000.
The iPhone 8 Plus 64GB variant will be priced at Rs 73,000.
The iPhone 8 Plus 256GB will be priced at Rs 86,000.
The iPhone X 64GB variant will be priced at Rs 89,000.
The iPhone X 256GB variant will be priced for two kidneys.. oops. Rs 1,02,000.
Yep. Apple has breached the Rs 1 lakh price ceiling for the iPhone X. It is now priced as much as a Tata Nano. A car and a phone. Priced almost the same.
But to think about it, the prices aren't all that bad. The iPhone 7 Plus 256GB variant was priced at Rs 92,000 when it launched last year. For a grand more, you get FaceID, a bezel-less OLED display, a neuron engine coupled with the A11 Bionic chipset and an improved dual camera setup.
Not so bad, eh?
The iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will be available from September 29th in India while the iPhone X will make a late, albeit grand entry on November 3rd.
