Accenture has announced urbanization hackathon on November 11-12. The company will let global participants to develop prototypes for improving the quality of urban lives. The company has announced the global initiative with Expo 2020 Dubai.


The hackathon's agenda is designed for 24 hours on November 11 and 12. The 24-hour long hackathon aims to create an impact to improve the quality of urban life. Registrations are open for students, entrepreneurs and individuals with passion to solve the challenges related to urbanization. Accenture hopes that the digital solutions developed during hackathon can be used in the real-world situation. 


Over half of the world's total population resides in the Urban areas. Participants will work on developing digital solutions that address to problems faced by the urban population. Improving the work and travel and condition in the urban areas and adopting more sustainable approach to urbanization is the big problem faced by the urban population. The registration page requires the participants to submit the proposal ideas. 


Accenture is working with professionals from various background in organizing the event. Participants of the hackathon are expected to put in their creativity and talent in developing the solutions. Hackathon's idea is inspired by the Expo 2020 Dubai's theme of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." Accenture is the Digital Services Premier Partner and Systems Integrator for Expo 2020 Dubai.



Participants of the hackathon are expected to meet two requirements:

  • Putting human beings at the heart of the experience.
  • Using latest digital technologies including wearables, artificial intelligence, analytics, augmented and virtual reality, blockchain and the Internet of Things.


The 24-hour hackathon will be conducted simultaneously in Bengaluru, Chicago, Dubai, Istanbul, London, Mexico, Manila, Rome, Monterrey, Shanghai and Singapore. Participants from these cities can register for the hackathon by November 6 on accenture.com/digital. Expo Dubai 2020 is supporting the hackathon to encourage innovation and connecting people from around the world to exchange innovative ideas. 


The major attraction about the hackathon is its price money. Accenture is awarding a total of $80,000 (Rs 51.66 lakh) to the top teams in each city. Accenture has assigned an independent panel of judges. The panel will consist of Accenture veterans and experienced practitioners from Accenture, Expo 2020 Dubai and local sponsors from each city. 


Job seekers too have a great benefit from the hackathon. Accenture is likely to offer jobs to top performing teams at the hackathon. The participant demonstrating exceptional problem solving, goal oriented attitude while working as part of the team will be interviewed by Accenture for the top positions in Accenture Digital or elsewhere in the company.
